LUMIO STREAM / START HERE
Welcome to Lumio
Understand your server, Administration and Media Center.
Lumio Stream is a self-hosted personal cinema and listening room. You supply your own media; the Mac runs the server, and people use the Media Center to browse and play what they are allowed to access. Films and music are not included.
Two spaces, one collection#
Administration is the native Mac application: it manages accounts, folders, metadata, playback settings and connections. Media Center is the browser/PWA experience: it contains your collection, search, personal preferences and players. A Media Center account does not automatically gain native administration access.
The background service owns the gateway, bundled Jellyfin engine, tray and any Lumio-managed connector. Quitting Administration leaves that service running. Stopping the server explicitly interrupts streaming.
Choose your first step#
- Install Lumio on the Mac that stores or mounts your media.
- Complete first-run setup and add a library.
- Open the Media Center and play your first title.
- To use another device, configure remote access.
What these guides verify#
These guides describe the 0.8.2 interface. Every Administration navigation area and 304 source-visible controls were audited against the implementation. Conditional controls vary with media, browser capabilities and permissions. Source audit is distinct from an interactive walkthrough; see the coverage record for the exact limits. Diagrams are labeled as diagrams; player captures use silent generated demonstration media and no personal library.
