LUMIO STREAM / ADMINISTRATION

Backup & maintenance

Create consistent backups, restore safely and separate preference exports.

Create a database backup#

Requires the native administrator application and enough free disk space.

  1. Open Backup & maintenance.
  2. Select Create database backup and choose the destination.
  3. Allow active playback to stop while Lumio cleanly shuts down its engine and archives the profile database/configuration.
  4. Wait for the engine to restart, then keep the archive in a protected location.

A database backup is sensitive: it can include accounts, settings, paths, history and credentials. It is not a copy of your original media files. Keep source drives backed up separately.

Restore from backup#

  1. Preserve the current data and verify which backup/version you intend to restore.
  2. Select Restore from backup and choose the archive.
  3. Lumio validates it before stopping the engine. Unsafe entries, links or unsupported archives are rejected.
  4. The previous configuration/database are kept in a dated recovery folder; the staged backup is then applied.
  5. Sign in using an account from that backup and verify libraries/history with source drives mounted.

Restore signs Administration out and interrupts playback. The desktop restore path has a 20 GB compressed-archive limit. Do not substitute a preference JSON export for a database archive.

Server preferences only#

Export server preferences produces the supported settings JSON. Import server preferences validates and applies that smaller configuration set. This is useful for settings transfer, not account/history/database restoration. Review imported paths and any restart instructions.

Manual recovery#

In foreground/browser mode, stop Lumio, copy the profile consistently, then restart; the native app has the dedicated backup action. Never extract untrusted archives over a running profile. Keep the preserved previous directory until the restored server is confirmed healthy.
