Queues, playlists & repeat

Distinguish temporary order from saved playlists and generated discovery.

The temporary playback queue#

Open the music queue control. The queue shows current entries and active position. Select a track to play it; use the offered up/down controls to move entries or the remove control to remove an inactive entry. The active track cannot be removed through that inactive-entry action. Clearing the queue retains the current item.

Add to queue in a media action menu explicitly appends the item when not already present. The temporary queue is separate from saved playlists and follows existing per-user browser persistence. Reload restores queue information, not an unconditional autoplay promise.

Saved playlists#

  1. Open an applicable track/album/artist action menu and choose Add to playlist….
  2. Select an existing playlist or create one using its name field.
  3. Review membership. Albums/artists can contribute several tracks rather than one fictitious media item.
  4. Open Playlists from the sidebar to browse the saved list and play its ordered contents.

Membership controls show whether some/all relevant items are already included. Removing a membership does not delete original media. Playlist access and visibility follow the server's available API and account permissions; no collaborative-sharing feature is promised.

Shuffle and repeat#

Shuffle on an explicit queue/playlist retains normal queue selection and does not silently substitute the whole library. Repeat cycles Off, All and One in normal audio queues. Smart direct-song discovery is a separate continuous mode and does not apply repeat-one; disable smart shuffle or use an explicit queue for that behavior.

Next advances according to the current queue mode. Previous first seeks to the beginning when more than three seconds have elapsed; otherwise it can return to the preceding entry. Smart mode maintains a bounded generated navigation trail rather than presenting that trail as a saved playlist. Music covers its no-unheard-repeat cycle and completion definition.
