LUMIO STREAM / ADMINISTRATION
TV hierarchy & recognition
Keep separate series, seasons and specials organized.
Choose the actual hierarchy#
In Libraries → edit a TV library → Series recognition & ordering, choose Folder hierarchy to match the media you already own:
- Each root contains individual series: a connected folder contains separate series folders.
- Each root is a franchise containing series: the connected folder is itself a franchise container.
- Roots contain franchises, then individual series: one more grouping level exists above the series.
These are descriptions of structure, not names you should create. Franchise groups keep each individual series' seasons, metadata and progress independent. Run a targeted scan after a hierarchy change.
Recognition settings#
| Control | Purpose and choices |
|---|---|
| Episode metadata source | Filename and folder hierarchy first, or Prefer embedded episode information. Use the latter only when the files contain correct tags. |
| Combine matched seasons of the same series | Allow engine grouping of seasons with the same series identity. Correct wrong identities instead of relying on similar folder names. |
| Use embedded titles for recognized extras | Use embedded extra titles where recognized. This does not identify arbitrary files as extras. |
| Season zero label | Display text for specials; the form uses Specials when no custom value is set. |
Conventional season folders and names such as S01E02 improve recognition. Lumio does not rename source files.
Correct a match#
- Find the series or episode in Metadata studio.
- Inspect its filename, parent context, provider IDs and indexed identity.
- Use Find the right… to search providers, or Edit metadata to correct identifiers and season/episode numbers.
- For a series, select Episode display order: Aired, DVD or Absolute, subject to provider support.
- Refresh the affected series and verify its seasons in the Media Center.
When Preserve original folder structure is enabled, folder browsing takes priority and the TV recognition controls may not be shown. Metadata studio explains locked edits and refresh behavior.
