LUMIO STREAM / ADMINISTRATION

Application & menu bar

Login preferences, service removal, updates and product limits.

Mac login preference#

Under Application → Application preferences, Open Administration when you log in to this Mac controls opening the Admin window. It is available in the packaged Mac app. The per-user server service has a separate lifecycle; closing the window or changing this checkbox does not mean streaming has stopped.

Background service#

The native service owns the gateway, engine, tray and managed tunnel. Use explicit server controls for a temporary stop/restart. Remove background service is an uninstall-related action: it removes that user's Lumio service after confirmation while retaining accounts, library data and original media. Quit Administration afterward as instructed.

The tray provides server status and the configured port, browser opening (including another browser window), opening the Admin panel, scanning the library, restarting the server, viewing logs and explicit quit-server/tray actions. Browser actions use the active configured Media Center address. An ordinary Administration quit leaves streaming running.

Version & updates#

The panel displays the application version, Apple silicon preview status and Automatic updates: Not enabled. Update the Mac application manually with a verified build. The browser/PWA shell may offer a separate web update prompt; it is not a binary updater. See installation and updates.

Licenses & privacy#

The current app is GPL-3.0-or-later and bundles Jellyfin, FFmpeg and other components with their notices. It adds no telemetry; optional metadata providers make network requests when enabled. Unsigned/notarization and runtime-source distribution qualifications remain in the release notes; this guide is not a certification of production readiness.
