LUMIO STREAM / MEDIA CENTER

Mobile & installed web app

Install the browser experience and use touch controls.

What is installed?#

The PWA is the browser Media Center in its own window. The server still runs on your Mac, which must remain reachable. It is not a standalone iOS/Android server or offline downloaded library.

Install where the browser supports it#

Open Settings → Lumio on this device → Install Lumio Stream. If there is no browser prompt, the guide explains:

  1. iPhone or iPad · Safari: Share → Add to Home Screen; enable Open as Web App if offered.
  2. Android · Chrome or Edge: browser menu → Install app or Add to Home screen.
  3. Mac · Safari: File → Add to Dock where supported.
  4. Desktop · Chrome or Edge: use the address-bar install icon or the browser app menu.

A secure HTTPS connection is required on other devices. Exact browser support varies; closing the guide does not install the app. These instructions reflect the app's own installation guide, not a claim that every physical device was tested.

Touch and responsive layouts#

Use bottom/mobile navigation where shown. Long-press supported media cards for their action menu. In video, side double-taps seek and the center gesture toggles playback; popover buttons handle their own touches. Expanded audio reserves safe-area/navigation space; Back first collapses it to the current browsing page.

Updates and offline behavior#

The app shell is versioned and can offer Update when a new shell is available. Accepting reloads the app and stops current playback. Private media/API responses are not cached as offline playback. If the server cannot be reached, the offline shell explains connectivity; it does not manufacture a library or resume a stream without the server.

For mobile connectivity, 127.0.0.1 on the phone points to the phone, not the Mac. Use the configured HTTPS origin.
